Like Cosmic divinity, music knows few barriers or boundaries. The message of Indian Classical music is freedom within the discipline. Ragas by the River was truly a dream come true for me as I was so keen for India to have a festival of this kind. I’d like to congratulate Mr. Vir Srivastava and the Leisure Group of Hotels for conceptualizing this magical Festival which will be a game changer in the time to come in spreading the cultural, traditional and musical legacies of India.

It was such an amazing and experience to perform at Rags by the River Festival. I felt that music flowed and blended harmoniously with the great outdoors amidst the breathtaking wilderness of Corbett, near the serene River Kosi. We need more Festivals of this kind that inculcate the true essence of our traditions and legacies.

“Ragas by the River,” remarkable festival, has been curated by Vir Srivastava ji out of his profound passion for music. Having known Vir ji fro a long time and sharing a connection through the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana, I was deeply impressed by his commitment to this endeavor.

The breathtaking location at Jim Corbett served as the perfect backdrop for this musical extravaganza. Overt the course of the three days, the meticulously organized concerts unfolded seamlessly, exhibiting a high standard of quality and aesthetics.

Every artist poured their heart and soul into their performances, akin to the flowing river nearby, delivering nothing short of their best. The ambiance was enhanced by the incredible location, complemented by exquisite cuisines, especially the Royal Rampuri cusine. The guests, hailing from various parts of the world and India, radiated happiness, with smiles adoring their faces throughout the event, each cherishing their unique experiences.

Cheers and kudos to all the hardworking individuals behind the scenes who made this extraordinary event possible. Without a doubt, I would rate the entire experience a perfect 10/10.

Raags by the river, Was a really unique and different experience. Such a beautiful setting makes it a very different musical treat. Nature always affects the mind and soul… and brings out musical imagery that is very different from theatre setting. An amazing experience for the artists and listeners.

“Performing at ‘Ragas by the River’ amidst the serene backdrop of Jim Corbett National Park was an enchanting experience. The scenic beauty added an ethereal quality to the music, making it truly memorable. The warmth and hospitality extended by the organizers at River View Hotel and Taj Corbett were exceptional making me feel truly valued as an artist. The receptive audience further enhanced the atmosphere, creating an unfrogettable musical journey. Witnessing my 13-year-old son, Rishith, perform alongside me, with legends and stalwarts in the audience blessing and encouranging him, was a moment of immense pride. Such experience make me yarn to return to this festival in the future, eager to once again be part of this harmonious celebration of Hindustani classical music. “

I thank Shri Vir Shrivastava ji and his family and friends for their warm hospitality and affection and I would also like to thank Omar Haidar for conceptualising such a beautiful festival of classical music.

I wish them all the best and hope it continues and grows.
